Hey Y’all!!
My name is Samantha, and I was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. I am married and have two children.
From a very young age I was interested in cultures and languages different from my own. I loved to read about "exotic" places and the people that inhabited them!
Greek Mytholoy was my first passion. Then the Maya, which led to Egypt and then farther east to Persia and India. I enjoyed learning about their culture, languages and art.
I first encountered Henna Body Art aka Mehndi by watching Bollywood movies (movies made in India) in 2001. I attended the Festival of India and I had the pleasure of being hennaed by Anupam and Meera. As I watched them apply a very simple design to my hands, I knew that I could do that too. I had "dabbled" in painting in the past.
I purchased a henna kit that came with an instruction booklet. The henna was "useless". But, I was hooked and knew there had to be a better “product”.
Fortunately, there was the HennaPage.com. It IS the most excellent resource for all things Henna!"A Henna artist displaying this logo has been certified by a committee of peers as a professional henna artist, adhering to a rigid code of standards with regard to her art.
To be a Certified Henna Artist, one must demonstrate a solid understanding of the following aspects of henna art:
- Henna itself
- Skin
- Hygiene
- Safety
- Culture
- Traditions
In addition to passing an extensive exam and even before a prospective certified henna artist can receive her certification, she must submit several photos of her work to be evaluated by a group of her peers for technique and quality.
By hiring an ICNHA certified Henna artist, you can ensure that only the safest henna will be used and that the artist should be able to address any questions or concerns you may have.
